Hello, I’m Anna. This is a beautiful AI generated version of me based on the selfie I took on my first ever day in a lab.
Talking Biology is my brain child and passion project.
To put things mildly I have taken the long road to where I am now in life. I have faced many uphill battles but my passion for science and understanding the world around me spurred me on to keep learning and I would like to share this with anyone willing to listen.
Like most people, I decided to start something new during the pandemic and created Talking Biology. It was born out of enthusiasm for science and in an air of slight desperation. I finished my Master’s in 2019 and spent the first half of the pandemic desperately job hunting.
I finally found a job in a research lab at Manchester University, it was such an incredible opportunity and I am very grateful to everyone there, but Talking Biology was put on the back burner.
From that job, I managed to get funding for a PhD at Exeter University and I decided the days of the website were over. I needed to fully concentrate on my PhD, but that was only sense talking, the dream never truly died. I still kept the domain name…..
Now is time for the new and improved Talking Biology! I have not yet finished my PhD, but I feel like the time is right to get back to the pure joy I find in the beauty of science. I plan for some of my content to focus on PhD journeys the struggles and hardships but also of what keeps people motivated on the tough days. The light at the end of the tunnel.
I hope this website will become my resource to share the joy and happiness I find in science. The more I understand about science and the world around us, the more complex and truly beautiful it becomes.
